David Van Daff
David Van Daff brings over 30 years of comprehensive experience in fitness, wellness, and sport to the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). With deep expertise spanning fitness industry business operations, multi-facility management, technology, training, and education, he plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of fitness.
As Vice President of Industry Development & Public Affairs, Van Daff leads the NASM Fitness Industry Division, ClubConnect, and oversees all public affairs, advocacy, and external relations initiatives. His leadership drives NASM’s mission to elevate fitness professionals and empower healthier communities worldwide.
Before rejoining NASM, Van Daff held key leadership positions including Executive Vice President of Fitness at Fusionetics and Vice President of Business Development and Public Affairs at NASM. He also managed fitness operations, personal training, and education across more than 400 health clubs during his 14-year tenure at Bally Total Fitness.
A recognized expert in the field, Van Daff is frequently featured in prominent national media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, CNN, The New York Times, Shape, Men’s Fitness, Men’s Health, and InStyle.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Kansas and a Master of Science from the University of Tennessee, along with numerous certifications in personal training, corrective exercise, fitness nutrition, performance enhancement, and weight loss. David currently resides in Chicago with his family.
